Overview

In this project, I was solely responsible for developing a comprehensive Design System for a growing startup in the Artificial Intelligence sector. The main objective was to create a visual and functional system that unified all design elements, promoting consistency and efficiency in the development of digital products.

Challenges:
  • The startup was in a scalability phase, requiring a flexible yet structured system that could adapt to new products and interfaces.

  • As the sole designer, I needed to ensure that the Design System was intuitive for developers and other non-design teams to use.

Deliverables:
  • Component Library: I created a visual library with reusable components, such as buttons, icons, modals, and form fields, optimized for various use cases.

  • Design Tokens: I developed design tokens for colors, typography, and spacing, which served as the foundation for the brand and user experience.

  • Comprehensive Documentation: I structured detailed documentation that outlined the correct use of components, interaction patterns, and accessibility guidelines, ensuring scalability and ease of implementation.

  • Rapid Prototyping: I implemented tools and workflows that sped up the development of high-fidelity prototypes, enabling quick validation of ideas.

Design System for an AI Startup

The project focused on designing a modern and elegant e-gift card featuring a sleek black card holder to evoke a sense of luxury and exclusivity. The card itself incorporates dynamic, fitness-inspired imagery and minimalist design elements, reflecting the active lifestyle that defines the Intenza brand.

The use of clean lines, refined typography, and a restrained color palette ensures that the card feels both contemporary and premium, making it an appealing gift choice for fitness enthusiasts.

Atoms

Atoms

I started by defining the core visual language: color palette, typography scale, iconography, spacing rules, and basic UI components like buttons, inputs, and labels. These foundational elements set the tone for the entire system, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic and predictable behavior.

🟡 Molecules

Next, I combined these atomic elements into functional building blocks — such as search bars with buttons, input fields with validation states, and dropdown menus with icons. These molecules represented small, reusable components that could be composed quickly without reinventing the wheel.

🟢 Organisms

At this level, I designed larger, more complex interface sections — like navigational headers, filter bars, and dynamic content cards. Each organism was created to be flexible enough to adapt to different contexts while maintaining brand and interaction consistency.

🔵 Templates & Pages

Finally, I built modular templates that allowed product teams to assemble pages with speed and clarity. By reusing organisms and molecules, teams could launch new features faster while keeping the user experience unified across the platform.\

Outcome

The Design System reduced development time by 40%, improved visual consistency across the startup's interfaces by 100%, and facilitated communication between designers and developers, leading to a more agile and integrated implementation process.
